3.11.2024, comments by Klemen Ramovš on the proposal for amendments to the Exercising of the Public Interest in Culture Act (ZUJIK)

On October 1, 2024, the Ministry of Culture submitted for public consideration the proposal of the Act on Amendments and Supplements to the Exercising of the Public Interest in Culture Act (ZUJIK-I). ZUJIK is an umbrella law in culture, and the proposed change is the most extensive in twenty years. The deadline for submitting comments and observations was up to and including November 3, 2024. The Ministry of Culture informed the public about this at https://www.gov.si/novice/2024-10-01-predlog-sprememb-zakona-o-uresnicevanju-javnega-interesa-za-kulturo-v-javni-obravnavi/ (only Slovenian).

I congratulate Minister Dr. Asta Vrečko and her team for creating this document and for the extensive and demanding work that was necessary for it.

On November 3, 2024, I sent my comments with two attachments to Ministry of Culture.
I am publishing all three documents.

  • Comments on ZUJIK-I dated November 3, 2024

  • Annex 1: Statement of the Initiative for Culture dated 13/10/2024, which we forwarded in the National Assembly to the parliamentary groups of Left, NSi, SD, SDS and Svoboda, the Culture Committee of the DZ, the President of the State Council, the President of the Republic of Slovenia, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Slovenia and the Ministry for culture

  • Annex 2: Opinion of the Ombudsman regarding my initiative with the allegation of violation of rights in the procedures for applying for public tenders for the co-financing of cultural projects.

I have provided my comments solely as part of my responsibility.
But I will be happy if I get a broader opinion about them and invite you to fill out the QUESTIONNAIRE.
