Capella Carniola was founded in 2004 due to the need for live music in early dance courses (especially for the 15th and 16th century programme). Soon after their musical programme expanded to European medieval music. Capella Carniola appears in many different formations according to various musical programmes: from duo to extended alta capella, the typical instrumental formation of European medieval cities. One of the most important purposes of the group is the revival of the use of musical instruments, presented in the 15th century Slovenian frescoes.
