Experience the secrets of Notranjska and Primorska with tourist guide Alenka Veber Rihtarjeva from Babno Polje
Have you ever visited "Slovenian Siberia"? Have you ever looked around Slovenia from Snežnik? Do you know the secrets of the Javorniks? Lake Cerknica and its surroundings also keep secrets that you may not know yet.
If you are ever tempted to visit these places, where the ancient spirit of the unique karst nature still grows, choose a local man to accompany you. Or even better, a local woman: Alenka Veber, a connoisseur who has published hundreds of records about Slovenia's attractions in 30 years.
Alenka invites you to shorter and longer walks through Babno Polje, but also in the wider Primorsko-Notranjska region. Together with it you can explore the coldest inhabited place in Slovenia (guess which one it is) or go from "Slovenian Siberia" to Babno Polje, Zgornje or Dolenje Poljane, climb Sveta Trojica above Pivka (1106 m) or Veliki Snežnik (1796 m).
At Rihtarjeva domačija (Rihtar's homestead) - at Alenka's home - in Babno Polje you can watch the short film Green Karst and listen to a short lecture on weather records in Babno Polje and the interesting history of Rihtar's family. There is a museum in the former barn.
You can visit Rihtarjeva domačija whenever Alenka is at home, otherwise by prior arrangement. Guided tours are available for individuals, families and groups.
