Občina Dolenjske Toplice (Dolenjske Toplice, SI)
The municipality of Dolenjske Toplice is located on the western edge of the Novi Sad region. The center of the municipality is in Dolenjske Toplice, which lies in the shallow Sušice valley between wooded hills at an altitude of 179 meters above sea level. The municipality is bounded in the west by the Kočevski Rog, in the south it reaches the Belokranjska gate, which separates it from the Bela krajina. The secluded Ljuben and a wide strip of forest demarcate the municipality from the Novi Sad landscape in the east, while to the north the municipality is bounded by the steep edge of the Ajdovska Plateau. Most of the karst area of the municipality is part of the Dinaric karst, which is characterized by numerous and diverse karst phenomena.
It is in the immediate vicinity of Novi Mesto, the center of the Southeastern Slovenia statistical region, where the municipality of Dolenjske Toplice is one of the 21 members. In addition to New Town, it borders the following municipalities: Kočevje, Semič, Straža, Žužemberk. An important starting point for visiting Dolenjske Toplice is Ljubljana, with which, despite the relatively short distance (approximately 70 km), Dolenjske Toplice is relatively poorly connected by transport. The municipality of Dolenjske Toplice is 16 km away from the main highway connection Ljubljana - Obrežje and is located next to an important road that connects central Slovenia and Dolenjska with the Bela Krajina.
The municipality of Dolenjske Toplice is a relatively well-known destination with a lively tourist activity, characterized primarily by hot water springs, as well as the pristine and quiet nature of the surrounding forests and varied cultural treasures.
