About the concert programme
The program, in the desire to illuminate the mythological frescoes of the Knight's Hall of Brežice Castle, connects the Arcadian summer breezes that blow from the North to the South, ie. from the dance-playful music of the Dutch “golden age” to the Italian Renaissance and Baroque musical tradition with Greek mythology-inspired songs. From the Dance of Hercules by Tielman Susato to Claudio Monteverdi's Mourning of the Nymph, from Giovanni Girolamo Kapsberger's shepherds on the hunt and lovely shepherdesses to Joachim van den Hove's bouncy dance Canarie, from the sleepy Galathea and dreaming Alcyone to the lovely villanellas by Giacomo Gorzanis and the charming chant Aure volanti from the musical drama by Francesca Caccini.
Brežice, Brežice Castle

Brežice Castle is a splendid example of fortified Renaissance castle architecture on a plain with four mighty round defence towers and spacious courtyard. Interior of fortified castle has lavished baroque paintings.
