Javni zavod Bogenšperk (Šmartno pri Litiji, SI)
Javni zavod Bogenšperk is an institution that falls under the auspices of the Municipality of Šmartno pri Litiji and takes care of the permanent and uninterrupted management of Bogenšperk Castle, a monument of national importance and one of the most important historical buildings in Slovenia.
Javni zavod Bogenšperk carries out museum, gallery, and protocol activities (weddings and other protocol events), organizes cultural and other events of a public and private nature, implements various forms of educational programmes, rents out premises for exhibitions, cultural and other events and services, and at the same time provides research activity in the field of social sciences and humanities.
In recent years, it has also taken care of creating a wider tourist offer, which includes taking care of the systematic implementation of the tourism development strategy in the local community. For this purpose, it creates a comprehensive tourist offer of the municipality area, informs visitors within the framework of the tourist information center, carries out the promotion of the tourist offer and events and includes the activities of tourism actors.
Javni zavod Bogenšperk also manages the Šmartno Cultural Center, the central municipal temple of culture, which offers visitors a varied cultural production in its own organization or co-organization, and at the same time ensures that local cultural creators work and present themselves there smoothly.
In the last period, the institute has established itself by organizing a series of diverse events, which are united under the name Festival Bogenšperk. The festival strengthens the awareness of the importance of Bogenšperk Castle as a cultural monument, an excellent concert venue among the local audience, and at the same time, due to its wider recognition, it arouses pride that such a high-profile festival takes place in the hometown. The festival content, which has attracted up to 5,000 visitors in recent years, is divided into several sections - from musical events and performances to gallery exhibitions, literary evenings, and culinary and recreational content. The content of the Bogenšperk Festival follows the vision of various artistic fields: music (classical and non-classical), visual art, performance art, cuisine, programs for children and youth, and leisure. The festival events take place to a greater extent at Bogenšperk Castle and in the center of Šmartno pri Litiji. We are proud that Seviqc Brežice is part of our festival story.
