Joseph Haydn (1732-1809): Armida (Hob.XXVIII:12)
Drama eroico – concertante
The opera Armida, one of Joseph Haydn’s most famous operas, is generally described as one of his best. It is his last opera for Esterhàza and was premiered on 26th February 1784 at the opening of the annual opera stage season. This year it is presented as part of an EU-project called PURPUR EOS with project partners from Austria, Slovenia, Croatia, France and Italy. Young, talented European singers and orchestra musicians, integrated into the Orchestra Purpur, will perform this opera.
