Music performed by the Helsinki Baroque Orchestra presents a fascinating fusion of Italian vocal style with the mature Germanic instrumental Stylus Phantasticus. Darkness and light alternate in a magically Nordic manner. While Roman Mare Nostrum was becoming the intercontinental Mediterranean, culture around the Baltic Sea was flourishing in an unprecedented way.
