Pilar Almalé is a Spanish viol player, singer, composer, and artistic director specializing. She has training in fine arts, dance, and aesthetic theory. She has performed with Jordi Savall, Dulce Pontes, Carlos Nuñez, Juan Kruz Díaz de Garaio Esnaola and Eva Yerbabuena. She has trained in Spain, Europe, and India, Fine Arts degree from the University of Seville and at the Higher Musical Conservatory of Vigo. Pilar plays viola da gamba, violone, and Medieval vihuela esraj, she adapts her music to different formats exploring new possibilities in integrating different artistic disciplines with large repertoire from Sephardic music to music from twentieth century Latin American singer-songwriters. Her album Caja de Música was awarded honourable mention at the Aragon’s Youth Institute's CREAR18 awards. Her album Hixa mía was named one of the top 200 albums of 2022 by the European World Music Chart. The show Claroscuro de Artemisia received the First Prize Santa Isabel of Portugal. Read more
