Resignation
I inform you that I have resigned from the working group of the Ministry of Culture for a lasting dialogue with non-governmental organizations in culture for three reasons:
- that the opinion of the group has been ignored, more than three years should give more results,
- because I do not agree that the increase of the state budget for culture of EUR 10 million went exclusively into public sector salaries, while at the exhausted non-governmental sector even less than in previous years,
- and the decisive reason, the Ministry of Culture has included Seviqc Brežice as well as some other non-governmental organizations with top-level and internationally recognizable programs and clear development visions among the less important ones. Funding has been shifted from program to project co-financing, where there is much less money.
I understand the latter as a censure of the ministry and a criminal measure, because I allowed myself to express our demands publicly. You can find my statement at this link.
Otherwise, on the Slovenian non-governmental scene in culture, it is boiling at the moment. As we strive for more comparable and equal state support, those who, in fact, have privileges, touch us to stigma, to act against the institutions, which is far from the truth. Strong institutions are very important for good culture, as is the non-governmental sector, which is often necessary for a competent and internationally competitive cultural scene.
All who has not yet supported my letter to the Prime Minister, I’m inviting to support us at http://www.seviqc-brezice.si/open-letter.html, and I’m inviting you also to support MoTA - Museum of Transitory Art, which collects support at http://motamuseum.com.
