First round of young ensembles selections for the eeemerging project

08. 10. 2014

From 3rd to 5th October 2014 we had a working meeting in Ambronay held by the organisers of the international four-year project called eeemerging, which is co-financed by the European Commission under the Creative Europe programme. The project was designed to encourage the international circulation and promotion of young artists who perform early music.

Along with the eight co-organisers from Ambronay (leader), Bucharest, Göttingen, Ljubljana, Pavia, Riga, Strasbourg and York, it is supported by 37 more partners from 16 countries and 6 European networks. From October 2014 to September 2018, 52 top young ensembles, who are to organise 99 concerts, will receive training at 88 different locations – 12 of those in Slovenia (Goričko, Rogaška Slatina, Terme Čatež), with 12 top young ensembles, who will perform 24 concerts at the Seviqc Brežice Festival in four years. 88 young ensembles applied to the open call and sent in their audio and video recordings along with their presentation folders.  The first selection has already been made by the Centres Culturels de Rencontre in Ambronay, eliminating 22 applicants. In the next step, the co-organisers individually evaluated the rest of the applicants on the basis of their recordings and presentation folders, and we re-evaluated the top 35 (with the best scores) together at the meeting in Ambronay, where we chose 19 of the best ensembles to perform at the auditions held between 1st and 8th December in Paris, Basel and Leipzig.
The Centres Culturel de Rencontre d'Ambronay prepared the public audition of four young ensembles – who had proven themselves as the most prominent before theeeemerging project (and two of which will be given the chance to attend the training in 2014 and 2015) – in the form of the Festival eeemerging, which was held on Saturday, 4th October 2014, and is planned to be an annual event. One of these is the Dutch ensemble Seconda Pratica, which won first place in the co-organisers’ evaluation at the Festival eeemerging and will be performing in Slovenia on 5th and 6th December at the Grad and Rajhenburg Castles.
