Eeeemerging final auditions 2018

11. 09. 2017

Final auditions for the 2018 ‘eeemerging’ project were held in Utrecht (Tivoli Vredenburg), Lyon (Auditorium de Lyon) and Vienna (Akademietheater) between Sunday, 3 September, and Wednesday, 6 September 2017 by project partners.

72 young ensembles had applied to the 2018 call. Eligible ensembles were those that are less than three years old, formed of between two and fourteen musicians with an average age of 32 or less. On the basis of preliminary individual assessments, 12 ensembles were selected to take part in auditions where four best ones were finally selected. Two additional ensembles will take part in eeemerging 2018, the winners of competitions hosted by the eeemerging partners in Göttingen and York.

Auditions were accompanied by strategic talks held by the eeemerging partners with potential partners from Lyon, Wrocław and Brno.

The eeemerging programme will have spanned October 2014 to September 2018 and is being implemented by eight partners with the support of the Creative Europe Programme of the European Commission. In addition to Seviqc Brežice, the other eeemerging partners are Centre culturel de rencontre d'Ambronay (Ambronay, FR) as the applicant, Collegio Ghislieri di Pavia (Pavia, IT), Internationale Händel Festspiele Göttingen (Göttingen, DE), National Centre for Early Music (York, GB), Ozango (Strasbourg, FR), Rīgas Senās mūzikas centrs (Rīga, LV) and Universitatea naţională de muzică din Bucureşti (Bucureşti, RO).

The eeemerging project allows us to find, select and train the best ensembles; to prepare them to enter the European marketplace through the creation of a network of places for training, residencies and diffusion; to allow the ensembles to perform for varied audiences and encourage them to develop programme proposals; to promote the ensembles, giving them access to high-quality marketing tools; to raise awareness of all participants through a website and a shared digital audiovisual platform, and to thus increase the audience for early music.

This year, the Seviqc Brežice festival has already hosted an eeemerging ensembles, the superrb Académie baroque européenne d’Ambronay (FR) in Brežice Castle and Concerto di Margherita (CH), who performed for us at an open rehearsal in their festival residence at Globoče, Brežice, and at two brilliant concerts. In October we have Nexus Baroque (DE) visiting and at the end of November Continu-um (DE).
