Sollazzo Ensemble receives its fifth Diapason d'Or
Sollazzo Ensemble has received the prestigious French Diapason d'Or for its new album La Flamboyance – The Sound of Change: Music of the Flamboyant Era. This is the ensemble's fifth Diapason d'Or.
In 2016, Sollazzo Ensemble (CH) took part in a Seviqc residency in Benedikt within the European eeemerging project. The residency ran from 4 to 13 July 2016, during which the ensemble worked on the programme Parle qui veut: Moralistic Songs from the Middle Ages. The programme was presented in two Seviqc concerts: 9 July 2016 in Benedikt and 10 July 2016 in Soteska. We are delighted to follow the continuing artistic journeys of musicians and ensembles who have been part of the Seviqc programme and to share their new achievements with the readers of Seviqc Journal.
La Flamboyance is Sollazzo's most ambitious project to date. It is devoted to repertoire that forms an important part of the ensemble's artistic identity, including works that have been part of Sollazzo's repertoire since its beginnings more than ten years ago. The project brought together twenty musicians as well as a wider production team.
See their concert on 6 September 2026 in Utrecht.
Other reviews of the album:
- Glowing with communication and infectious joie de vivre, this is an essential album for both afficionado and neophyte. If this doesn’t sauté your listening tackle, nothing will. (Choir&Organ)
- An album that does not merely document the repertoire, but above all interprets it — and does so outstandingly. (W Kulturalny Sposób, Poland)
- Perhaps the most ambitious album Sollazzo Ensemble has released to date. (Cultuurpakt, Belgium)
- This album is as coherent in its musical programming as it is in the quality of its interpretation, bringing this music to life across the centuries and making it moving for those willing to free themselves from their own preconceptions. A success. (Resmusica, France)
- Rather than treating the late Middle Ages as a distant historical epoch, the recording invites listeners to experience these sounds as a living, vibrant musical world. (Clicmusique)
